Pablo's artwork throughout Casa Umare created a warm atmosphere, making my stay feel like home. The spacious bedroom boasted a king-sized bed with top-notch linens, offering a cozy retreat after exploring. Every morning, breakfast included fresh croissants and homemade preserves, a delightful start to the day. The lush outdoor garden, complete with a koi pond, provided a peaceful spot for relaxation. Despite this, navigating the building after dark proved tricky due to poor lighting in some areas. Additionally, securing access after hours required a bit of planning, which could be improved. My kitchenette left much to be desired. it barely accommodated basic cooking. A few minor quirks, like the lack of signage, added some confusion to my arrival, though not enough to detract significantly from the overall experience. Nonetheless, the inviting atmosphere and superb service made it a memorable stay.

absolutely loved the musty smell that greeted me upon entering my room, which had its share of moths flitting about. simply charming! it would have been nice to receive a complimentary upgrade, since clearly nobody else deserved my special treatment. breakfast was bread and croissants—a real delight at this price point, woudl ve been better at a cafe.

A hidden artistic gem
Staying at Casa Umare was a delightful experience. The artistic touches, from the owner’s unique art pieces to the lovely stained glass windows, made every corner feel special. The breakfasts were particularly memorable, featuring homemade jams that perfectly complemented fresh croissants. The kindness of the staff, especially Pablo and Anna, enhanced our stay, allowing us to feel at home while enjoying the charm of Almagro.
While our experience was largely positive, there were a few minor drawbacks. The lack of signage made finding the entrance a bit confusing at first. Additionally, the building had some quirks, such as needing to request access after hours. A clearer way to navigate these challenges would enhance the experience further.

Oversized grand bedroom with king sized bed impressed me, making it a comfortable space to relax. The stunning bathroom uniquely blended modern amenities with antique French style, a nice touch that added a bit of luxury.
Several issues marred the stay, primarily the poorly lit building which made navigating the stairs a hazard. When it rained, certain paths inside the building would flood, presenting an unwelcome challenge. What was expected to be a highlight, the rooftop terrace and pool, fell short with overgrown stairs, debris in the pool, and a lack of sufficient seating, making my outdoor reading plans impossible. Additionally, the television setup was unusual with no English channels available, and the kitchenette could barely accommodate basic cooking needs. Also, there was the inconvenience of having to check out after a drawn-out payment negotiation that felt less than transparent.

We had an amazing time enjoying the beautiful outdoor patio with lush plants and the peaceful koi pond—such a perfect way to unwind! The solarium and sun loungers were great spots to relax and soak up some sun. Just a heads up, it would be nice if there were seating available outside right away when the weather permits, but that didn't take away from our experience at all! 🌸
